It’s Trend Week! All Blog Posts this week are going to be completely about Wedding and Event Trends for 2012. We attended the Catersource Conference and Tradeshow in Las Vegas the other weekend and learned about even more top wedding trends for the year. And the Northeast Oklahoma Perfect Wedding Guide Bridal Show that we exhibited at yesterday (thank you to all who visited!) shed light on a few more fab trends. So, it’s time to talk all about trends this whole week. There are just so many….
What trend are we really seeing for 2012? It’s a color…and it’s purple! Well, actually, it’s lavender. Light purple / lavender is a very big trend for 2012 and, like pretty much all of the trends, it’s one we really LOVE!
It makes sense that lavender is on the rise as it’s very romantic and very soft…perfect for the ever-popular shabby-chic and vintage themes.
It’s very Spring-like, too. And it’s simply fresh and works really well if you’re doing a 100% organic floral palette.
Or even if you’re doing a backyard / garden / local flower type theme. It can be rustic…a soft rustic. And it works really well with neutrals so if cream, pearl, white, or even a soft white birch bark or taupe are on the palette, lavender complements them all very well.
When we saw all of the purple at the Catersource Conference and Tradeshow, particularly exhibited in the floral arrangements, we knew that purple was definitely still “very much in.” But not just the aubergine purple that’s been strong for a couple of years. Brides are loving purple over all, and now they’re loving the softer sides of purple, too. Lavender!!
The first bouquet that came to mind when we thought “lavender trend” was this little beauty we designed last year, photographed by the talented Candi Coffman.
With Spring just around the corner, and with lavender buzzing through brides’s minds, we hope that this bouquet gives you some ideas (and inspiration) about your own lavender-colored wedding design.
Are you choosing lavender or light purple flowers for your wedding? Incorporating lavender into your design through dresses, linens, and other intricate details?
We’ll be back soon with another color trend…Orange combos. Orange+Yellow and Orange+Bright Green. And…simply Orange. Bold and fabulous! It was creeping up in 2011 and it’s definitely here for 2012!
